Microfiber Glass Cloth

Microfiber Glass Cloth

Microfiber is the terminology used to describe ultra-fine manufactured fibers and the name given to the technology of developing these fibers. The fabrics made from these extra-fine fibers provide a superior hand, and incredible softness that come in cloth, towel, Mop, and many customizes application such as bath robe, baby towel etc. Many definition about microfiber yarn ,but mostly saying in general term that, yarn which is less than 1 denier.

The name microfiber refers to the technology of developing ultra-fine fibers measuring only 0.006mm in diameter which means 10 times finer than silk, 30 times finer than cotton, 40 times finer than wool, and 100 times finer than human hair.
Just one pound of fibers could wrap around the earth's equator more than 10 times. The diameter or fineness of a continuous or filament fiber the lower the number, the finer the fiber, which in turn is more effective for cleaning surfaces.

There are four types of synthetic microfibers being produced but state-of-the-art fabrics for Microfibre cleaning cloths most commonly used in creation of two polymers , that is , nylon and polyester.
Polyester is lyophilic which ensures affinity to dirt and oil while Polyamide (Nylon ) is hydrophilic which ensures water absorption.
The typical ratio of the two polymer blend is 80% polyester and 20% polyamide; a 70/30 blend will absorb water faster. As polyamide is much more expensive than polyester, it is expected to pay more for a 70/30 blend.
While it's true that polyamide is more absorbent than polyester, a towel made from a blend of 70% polyester and 30% polyamide is not necessarily a better drying towel than an 80/20 blend (respectively).

The weave and fiber treatment (splitting) will determine the wicking ability of the towel as much or more than the material blend.
Without Splitting Process, there is no different with Normal synthetic ( polyester ) yarn. This is a process of splitting polyester and nylon creating millions of crevices in numerous wedge ( 16 splitable cross section / 16 different segments in "V" shape / Star shape groove), it is also what so called weight deduction process since some part of polyester is dissolved by NaOH solution ( Sodium hydroxide ).

Utilizing a flawed process of splitting will reduce the quality of microfiber fabric. It has to be done perfectly; too much splitting causes the yarn to break down and too little splitting causes the yarn to lose its good function.
